Goal of the courseThis post-graduate course gives an introduction to the theory and technology of the generation, amplification and characterization of energetic laser pulses with small pulse duration.

Dispersion control
Description of dispersion effects, Dispersion of materials, The prism compressor, Chirped mirrors, The CPA method, The optical grating stretcher, Alignment of stretcher-compressor systems

Generation of ultra-short pulses
Optical cavity, The active medium, Laser cavity, Generation of ultra-short pulses of laser radiation, The KLM oscillator, Oscillator types

Amplification of ultra-short pulses
