Goal of the course | This course is a continuation of General Physics I and it covers intensively the material of Electricity, Magnetism and Optics that is normally taught in High Schools, but using higher mathematics. Use of differential calculus and of simple differential equations is made in the presentation of the physical laws and in the solution of problems. |

Syllabus | Electric fields, Coulomb's law, Gauss's law. - Electric potential. - Capacitors, dielectrics, current, resistors. - Circuits of continuous current, magnetic fields. - Sources of magnetic fields, the Biot-Savart law, Ampere's law. - Faraday's law, induction, inductors. - Circuits of alternating current. - Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic waves. - Nature of light, laws of geometrical optics. - Geometrical optics, mirrors, lenses. - Interference of light. - Diffraction and polarization of light. - Summary. |
