Goal of the courseThis course is a continuation of General Physics I and it covers intensively the material of Electricity, Magnetism and Optics that is normally taught in High Schools, but using higher mathematics. Use of differential calculus and of simple differential equations is made in the presentation of the physical laws and in the solution of problems.

During the fall semester to course is offered in the form of selfstudy with only one two-hour lecture per week for the students that did not pass it during the spring semester. Emphasis is given in problem solving.
SyllabusElectric fields, Coulomb's law, Gauss's law. - Electric potential. - Capacitors, dielectrics, current, resistors. - Circuits of continuous current, magnetic fields. - Sources of magnetic fields, the Biot-Savart law, Ampere's law. - Faraday's law, induction, inductors. - Circuits of alternating current. - Maxwell's equations, electromagnetic waves. - Nature of light, laws of geometrical optics. - Geometrical optics, mirrors, lenses. - Interference of light. - Diffraction and polarization of light. - Summary.
