Giorgos P.
Tsironis did his
undergraduate studies in physics at the
University
of Athens and obtained his Ph. D. degree in theoretical condensed matter
physics from
the
University of Rochester in 1987. His research and teaching experience
includes
positions at the University of New Mexico, University of California San
Diego, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Superconducting Super
Collider
Laboratory, University of North Texas, University of Crete and FORTH.
He is a collaborator in Los Alamos National
Laboratory and has been a visiting professor at Saclay Laboratory in
France,
the University of Barcelona in Spain and Technion in Israel.
Has served as director of the University of Crete Computer Center (2003-09) and
chairman of the Department of Physics of the University of Crete (2007-2011).
His research interests include statistical mechanics,
nonlinear physics, complexity, biological physics, accelerator physics
and metamaterials.
