having deliberated opinions put forward by its members, jointly confers the
2007 Xanthopoulos Award
on
Professor of Physics at The Pennsylvania State University
and
Professor of Physics at the Albert Einstein Institute & the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics
for their seminal and complementary contributions to the development of background-independent quantum gravity.
