Goal of the courseAdvanced Condensed Matter Physics course with emphasis on the concept of broken symmetry in solids, elementary, quasi-particle and collective excitations, energy dispersions dictated by symmetry, low energy effective theories. Electron-electron interaction, electron dynamics, transport theory, magnetism, superconductivity, experimental probes as NMR, neutron scattering.
Syllabus(1) Crystal structure/Bloch theorem, implications of symmetry
(2) Electronic structure, single-e quasi-particle dispersions
(3) Lattice dynamics – phonon collective excitations
(4) e-e interaction/HF/LDA/screening/Hubbard model
(5) Εlectron dynamics

(7) Magnetism, para-,ferro-,antiferro-magnetism, magnons, collective excitations
